Alicia is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern at Very Unique Wellness and is completing her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Capella University as she works toward becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. She began her academic journey with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, which provided a strong foundation in understanding human behavior, resilience, and the systems that influence individuals and families.

With more than eight years of experience in mental health and social services at the nation’s top-ranked children’s hospital, Alicia has supported children, adolescents, and families facing a wide range of emotional and social barriers. Her work in that setting strengthened her passion for empowering youth to access wellness, stability, and hope—regardless of the challenges they face. She has a particular interest in supporting young people experiencing anxiety, depression, and PTSD, and she believes deeply in their capacity to heal and grow with the right support.

Alicia’s therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy. She values creating a safe, compassionate, and collaborative environment where clients feel genuinely heard and understood. Her work focuses on helping children and teens build insight, develop effective coping strategies, and strengthen emotional awareness while honoring their individuality and lived experiences.

She is committed to upholding the highest standards of empathy, confidentiality, professionalism, and cultural humility as she partners with clients and their families. Throughout her internship, Alicia is supervised by Vorā O. Blake, LPCC-S, C-DBT, C-PD, and is an engaged member of the interdisciplinary team at Very Unique Wellness. She brings warmth, dedication, and a client-centered focus to every session and is honored to walk alongside clients and their families as they continue their wellness journey.
